History of Cover: Only one year before this cover was sent, the Hotel Humboldt was completed and opened for business.

The story of the Hotel Winnemucca begins in March of 1918 with the El Dorado Hotel. That is when the El Dorado burned to the ground. Rumor of a new El Dorado Hotel surfaced in June of 1919. George Wingfield was said to be rebuilding the hotel with a four-story, fire-proof, modern structure.

It took four years for this to come to fruition. Instead of the New El Dorado, it was to be called the Hotel Humboldt. It would be five stories, with 100 first class rooms. There would be businesses on the ground floor including a bank of which the steel and fixtures would come from the John S. Cook bank in Goldfield. This marvelous hotel would cost $300,000.

The contents of the included material were about selling clips (wool). Mr. Callahan is suggesting that Rancher Guscetti sell his wool to the Eisemann Brothers of Boston. He even includes a sample contract. Callahan was the resident agent for this Boston firm in Nevada.

Mr. Callahan would be living in luxury when he mailed this letter as the modern marvel where is staying in the middle of the Nevada desert was not yet a year old!
